Horary Astrology

Horary Astrology is a much older form of astrology than the psychologically orientated astrology that most people are familiar with. "Horary" means "of the hour". William Lilly, pictured on the right, of the 17th Century is considered to be the grand master of Horary Astrology. He states in his 1647 astrological magnum opus, Christian Astrology; "If a proposition of any nature be made to any individual, about the result of which he is dubious...let him but note the hour and minute when it was first made and erect a figure of the Heavens...and his doubt will be instantly resolved..." William Lilly, 1602-1681

Horary astrology can answer any kind of question, such as finding lost objects, whether buying or selling is favourable at this time, whether a relationship will succeed, whether a spouse is being faithful, if a business transaction is crooked, etc. and is especially successful at answering Yes/No questions.

Horary Astrology raises a number of ethical issues, and the Horary astrologer needs to carefully consider the question before agreeing to answer. Fortunately within the the mysterious workings of Horary, a number of strictures, or considerations against judgment are built into the system. These ancient rules against judgment oftentimes appear within a Horary chart, when a question is asked that is not meant to be asked at that time.

An interesting effect of Horary is that the time of the question is not related to the time the person asking the question first thought of the question, but rather the time the Astrologer hears and understands the nature of the question. This effect seems similar to the effect noted in the new physics of quantum mechanics, where the observer is subjectively part of the experiment. Consult an Astrologer
